Non Profit Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment, and possess strong technical and analytical skills. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities while helping ensure the organization's financial integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable transactions and vendor payments.
• Manage invoice approvals and payment workflows through Bill.com.
• Assist with accounts receivable, cash receipts, and donor revenue tracking.
• Support grant and program expense tracking as needed.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
• Assist with audits and other compliance-related activities.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required Software Skills

• QuickBooks
• Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic formulas)
• Bill.com
• Google Sheets
